Robotics & Software Engineer

Do you get excited when you see a robot that could work smarter, faster, or more precisely? Does your heart beat faster for software that performs under harsh, real-world conditions in the field? And do you know how to make sensors, algorithms, and mechanics work together to build a robust and intelligent machine? Then we would love to meet you.

Apply

Why Odd.Bot?

Because you will be joining us, a purpose-driven company at the forefront of agricultural robotics. With a team of passionate innovators, engineers, and visionaries united by a common goal: to revolutionise farming with intelligent, sustainable solutions. You'll be joining a dynamic, collaborative environment where your expertise will directly contribute to making a significant societal impact.

Your mission

As a Robotics & Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, integrating and testing software that enables our autonomous agricultural robots to navigate and respond intelligently. You will create and validate solutions that combine sensing, vision, and motion control to ensure the robot makes the right decisions in real-time, regardless of the outdoor field conditions.

Core responsibilities

Sensing and navigation
You develop and integrate spatial awareness and vision data for accurate localisation of the robot and detection of weeds. You build, optimise and integrate fail-safe systems, such as obstacle and ditch detection systems using vision algorithms. You design and fine-tune routing algorithms based on crop lines and field patterns. Using sensor fusion and techniques such as Kalman filtering and outlier rejection, you will help integrate future developments and improve navigation in challenging conditions.

Control and behaviour
You optimise and develop autonomous navigation logic, including stopping and avoidance routines, and build robust and adaptive control systems that respond to changing terrain and weather conditions. You collaborate closely with our mechatronics engineers on motion control and positioning of the robotic arm.

Software development, system integration, and validation
By optimising and building ROS2 nodes, you will join our team in creating a modular, stable and scalable robotics framework. You test, tune, and validate your software in both virtual and realistic field conditions, documenting the architecture, interfaces, and configurations clearly.

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Robotics, Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience with ROS2, C++, and Python
  • Hands-on experience with sensors (such as IMU/INS and 3D vision) and with algorithms for obstacle detection and navigation
  • Bonus: experience working with agricultural robots, outdoor navigation, or robotic arms
  • Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English, spoken and written
  • Available full-time (36–40 hours per week)
  • Residency in the Netherlands required—ideally in the Rotterdam region. This is a Rotterdam-based position.

What we offer

  • A competitive salary between €4,500 and €6,000 per month, depending on experience, plus 8% holiday allowance
  • The opportunity to obtain certificates for co-ownership in the company
  • Influence within a fast-growing deep tech scale-up
  • A pension scheme
  • 27 vacation days
  • A personal development budget and coaching
  • Regular team activities and field visits
